Ubuntu install/dual-boot Vista
 

I've been having some 64-bit woes with Windows Vista Ultimate and my video card, so I decided to try Linux. Well, Linux isn't taking too kindly to my computer's hardware, I believe. I'm trying to install Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty onto a second partition (tried using unallocated space, NTFS format, as well as unformatted) and the LiveCD does not find any hard drive at all and my friend has suggested my hard drive may be too large. Here are my system specs:

500GB Western Digital 7200RPM SATA 3.0GB/S HDD
ATi X1950GT 512MB PCIe Video
2x LG H55N DVD-RW
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 PCI
10 USB ports (4 on-board, 2 on the case, 4 via additional motherboard ports)
USB Keyboard & USB Mouse
Currently installed: Windows Vista Ultimate x32

I get the option of manual partitioning during the install from Live CD and then there are no partitions/drives listed and I can't update anything because both the LAN and the WiFi adapters won't seem to connect. Help please!

I'm not sure I'd recommend a 64bit distro. I can't speak for the others, but I know with Ubuntu, getting some simple things to work(like web plugins, flash, etc), requires a bit of hoop jumping. It can be done, but I just found it easier to stick with 32bit for the forseeable future.

You're hard drive isn't to large, I've got a 500gig IDE that works fine, as well as a 500gig USB that works fine.

Suse supposedly has pretty solid 64bit support(but I imagine all of the above is still an issue)
