ubuntu gutsy distribution-problem with cd
 

first of alla i want to excuse for my english i'm italian and my grammar is too bad.

i try to explain my problem.
when i try to open a cd with ubuntu the system go on and on and don't open the cd even if it is a cd with simple mp3

i've to shut-down thw computer to close the windows because if i force the quit of the windows the sistem re-open another windows

i've the same problem even if i try to open one of the other directory of the sistem.

i don't understand why

when i use the shell i don't have any problem

How is the CD formatted? If it was written with Windows XP it might be NTFS which Linux won't ordinarily read, but that can be changed.

arochester, cds are formatted with harddisk file systems
instead of shutting down the computer, try ctrl-alt-backspace and that should take you back to the login screen. what are the specs of your computer?
