Ubuntu - Gnome Places Menu

Hello everyone,

I have a question about the "Places" menu on the Gnome desktop on Ubuntu Itrepid Ibex (8.10) distro.

In the "Places" menu, several hard disk partitions are listed there, such as my Windows Vista partition and the Windows Vista recovery partition.

These partitions are not mounted, but they are still listed there in the "Places" menu. These partitions are not included in fstab either.

So why are they in the "Places" menu? and how do I remove them from the "Places" menu?

Also, a data partition that is listed in the "Places" menu is shown as "175.3 GB media", how do I get that partition it be shown as the name "Data"?

When I click on any of these partitions (either left click or right click), the partition gets mounted and then its icon appears on the desktop, also with a name that I don't want.

Anybody know how to tweak this?

In order to get the Media device to show up as Data you need to go to its properties and configure its mount points.
