Ubuntu & Content Filtering

I am an extreme Linux newbie. I am very familiar with Windows, but having a difficult time putting some type of content filtering in place on the single home pc which I have recently installed Ubuntu on. My Windows boxes are protected with a program called Cybersitter. I would convert these other two computers to Linux, if I could only figure out how to make this work on the first pc.

Surely there are other concerned parents out there in a similar situation as me! I won't let my children browse the internet until I get something up and running to block out porn, etc. on my Linux pc.

I have tried unsuccessfully to install/configure DansGuardian and squid. Can anyone offer a step-by-step "how-to" approach for a dummy like me? Please...

Thanks!

This will get you started on the setup and configuration of squid through iptables such that you can't bypass it simply by local browser configuration.

This looks prospective for dansgaurdian, but the site is down, atm.

If you bug me about it I can probably check with a guy a know at the school I went to last year and ask about it, that's what they use now.
