Cannot help you, but my experience, though: Upgrades mosltly give some mysterious behaviour of the upgraded system, especially if you have customised a lot. Better take a copy of the home dir (+ others you choose) and install fresh. Then copy configurations (dot files) from the copy into the new and install corresponding program(s), selectively. And your system will have minimum of anomalies and garbage!

If your system is seriously unusable, create a puppy linux CD on another computer & boot up with it as a recovery system. You will be able to backup files, create DVDS or whatever ready for reinstalling. |
