Ubuntu 9.04 /open suse/suse Graphic card problem 5200/6200/radeon 9250

Problem 2 : Geforce 5200,xfx 6200 not supported by ALL linux

my System nvr support linux with display set to graphic card (AGP card)
[1st i had branded Compaq sr1420il PC ,my 1st pc . I tried to install linux there i got some error (dont remember 4-5 years bk) , Now do 2 MB failure i purchased new MB (alomst 1 year now) . I tried installing almost all linux but most freezes after ~20-40 seconds)

(suse,open sus, ubuntu,fedora latest version)

only distro i able to run fine is MINT os

Alternate way i found to install linux is :

a) connect display to onboad graphic (intel 845g onboad graphic )
b) pop up linux cd install it

so : Y linux not accepting my graphic card xfx 6200,geforce 5200 , ati 9250 graphic card , always forced to switch to onboad Graphic`s to USE LINUX < WHICH IS very hard (switching to AGP graphic card 4 windows in bios nd connection cable to card nd switching it to onboad graphic when running Linux
if i tried to run linux in graphic card it freezes

My system config :
P4 2.8
zebronic mobo 845gv
xfx geforce 6200
1.5gb ram
450W power supply

80+160 gb hard disk pata
dvd drive

pls help me

I can post any infos wanted . currently i installed open suse , i have Dvd of open suse, ubuntu, suse 10.1 , So if u know how 2 solve problem in any of these linux pls post . i am newb to linix so little explanation is appreciated

I don't know what could be wrong here, except maybe a defect AGP interface which is ingnored by windows (the same prob with 3 GFX cards??). I've had bent contacts on a PCI interface once, and devices where unusable on both windows and linux; I managed to bend those back, but it was a hell of fuddling with needles and stuff...
1st 2 is PCI cards ie.req. NORMAL pci slot(not pci -e)(9250 radeon , 5200 geforce), 3rd is AGP (6200 geforce) so it cant b defect in agp/pci interface ,but it is definitely problem related with Graphic card as i am able to install and boot into Linux if i connect monitor to onboard Graphic(intel 845 gv), Yes i can use onboard graphic for linux but switching from Graphic card >onboard every time is kinda ,,,,,. I will nd to change settings in Bios , change Monitor connection from Graphic card to onboard then again bk to graphic card when i using windows >.>

thank u

hmmm,I met a such matter with a poor quality graphic card build around GForce 2. For a couple euros, I bought a new card which runs peffectly.
Do you try to use the proprietary drivers provided by ATI and Nvidia ?
There into the Xorg.conf you can force your graphic card, I never done that config until now because I choose modo with no graphic cards integrated. Have a look on dual screens or dual graphic card config.
Therefore, under Ubuntu I met kernel panics with some graphic cards I never met with other distro such (open)suse and (fedora)redhat.

i think it would b better if I post the entire boot log which may or maynot cointain the freeze error , so u experts can understand what the real problem is . But Is there any way to get that log other than Taking a Pic with digital camera ?(i use windows also) .
