Ubuntu 8.10 installation comes out at 94%
hi friends..
yesterday i downloaded ubuntu 8.10 iso and burnt it to a cd
the md5sum and the check cd options showed the cd to be ok.
i have a 160 GB hdd
with 100 GB running XP,30GB OpenSuse and 30 GB free space
now when i try to install ubuntu 8.10 in the free space
the installation stops at 94% and comes out to the live desktop.
i have tried 4 times but each time the same thing occured
Everytime the installation stoped at "Installing Driver for your Hardware" stage.
at first i thought may be the the ubuntu GRUB is unable to
overwrite the SUSE grub.so i tried to restore NLTDR(xp boot loader)
and then thought of installing Ubuntu.
For this purpose i inserted the xp boot cd and opted to boot frm cd.
here also the installation stopped responding at the first step
("Detecting ur hardware").. a black screen(with nothing written) showed
on the screen and the processor started working rigorously and nothing happened (i watched for 30 mts).
my question is .. What is the problem??
IS my partition table corrupt or there is any wrong with my hardware?
if there is something wrong with my hardware then how can i still
run my SUSE and XP (the GRUB of SUSE is ok)??
today i installed fedora 9 on that free space and the installation was succesful.!!!!...
friends plz help..
