Ubuntu 7.10 Wireless network issue
 

O.k. so I've installed Ubuntu 7.10 and I have my D-Link DI-524 wireless router setup with my that box. In another room I have my PC (Windows XP). And I have a wireless network card installed with this box. Well I can connect online fine. But I want to be able to connect to my other PC as well. So far no luck. I've got shared folders enabled on Ubuntu and my Windows xp PC.

Also another key thing to know is that on the Linux box I have I have ubuntu 7.10 server edition and I have the regular GUI one partitioned. Mainly just for fun. Trying to get a friend of mine to help me out with it (although he's not available right now or else I wouldn't be here).

Any suggestions?

If you can connect to the Internet from the both the Linux machine and the Windows box, there are no wireless problems.

If you are wanting to access files on the Windows box from the Linux machine, you will need to use Samba-client on the Linux box. It's probably installed in Ubuntu by default, but you'll need to configure. You'll also need to make sure that file sharing is turned on in Windows and that the files you want to access are marked as shared.

If the Windows XP files are on a NTFS partition, you may also need some additional software on your Linux box, but I suspect NTFS add-on is inlcuded by default in Ubuntu. If the files are FAT32, you should be fine.

My problem is that I cannot even load the live CD. Therefore I cannot install it.

This is definitely a different problem! I'd suggest starting a new thread, stating first what system you try to install on what machine. I can give you a little piece of first advice: Did you configure your BIOS to boot from CD? Adjusting this might already get you up and running.
