Ubuntu 7.10 server Gutsy
 

Hey everyone,

just need a little help.

I have installed server ubuntu 7.10 gutsy, which obviously comes as command line OS, please correct if I'm wrong.
cpuld not start X server by any way.
tried to install some packages, tried to download some stuff found in forums without any luck.
I'm not very good at command line but I'll live with it if there is no other way.

all the error codes I'm getting are various, nothing specific but here are some out of my head.

can not be installed: no installable file, depends on ......,
package broken, X: cannot stat /etc/X11/X (No such file or directory), aborting.

and so on

can you please anyone help with step by step installation of desktop environment if possible?

try sudo aptitude install ubuntu-desktop
