UBUNTU 64 BITS, X crashing

i have installed UBUNTU 64 on my compaq R3000x, and it boots as quick as i was specting it to be, but i have a problem, a BIG ONE..

when it is getting near to X window... well the monitor just CRASH!!, it goes crazy, and stays there... i cant even see what is happening... i would like to know if someone have had the same problem, how can i solve it... why this, what would this be?

(im really new on this, please "slow" with the technical information)

(i havent found this information after searching some other forums, so i think im not making you waste your time on a thread already discussed)

Look at the output for /var/log/Xorg.0.log if you're using X.org or /var/log/XFree86.0.log, if you're using XF86 to see if there are any specific errors pertaining to your attempted X session. Submit the errors here if there are any.
