So...you're on Ubuntu now?? Seems similar to:
Lubuntu: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...tu-4175582605/
Zorin: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...os-4175582335/
Mint: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...nt-4175582225/
Fedora: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ux-4175581655/
RHEL 6: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...fi-4175581424/

You've been asked NUMEROUS times now, to read the "Question Guidelines" and "How to ask a smart question" links....did you do so yet?? Saying "not working" tells us nothing, and even less so when you don't bother telling us anything about the hardware you're on. So far, you're on your SIXTH distro, but you like them all very much....

I think your issue is codecs: Type the following into the terminal:

Code:

sudo apt update && sudo apt install ubuntu-restricted-extras
That will install multimedia codecs as well as flash and MS fonts.

Another resource for you: Things to do after installing Ubuntu 16.04

You really need to get a handle on the correct ways to ask questions and explain issues. I think also, you should take time to get use to a distro before hopping on to another.

Right..this is the same thing you said in your initial post, quoted in my first reply. You STILL don't tell us what 'video player' you're using.

Right...and this is the same thing you've said before. Also, as the LQ Rules, Question Guidelines, and "How to ask a smart question" links tell you (that you have been ASKED TO READ MANY TIMES NOW, is that you should NOT edit your original posts like this.

Right...again, you still tell us nothing about the 'video player', or what you're trying to play. If you bothered to show ANY effort of your own (again, you need to read the "Question Guidelines" as you've been asked to), and just put "ubuntu 16.04 can't play media" into Google, you'd see as one of the VERY FIRST HITS:
https://sites.google.com/site/easyli...ect/multimedia

...a step by step guide to solving your problem. Since you probably found THIS site with a Google search, you really should try to look things up on your own as well.
