Ubuntu 17.10 file sharing with windows


I am trying to access the pubic directory of Microsoft windows but with no success.Before I updated from 16.04 it functioned fine..What may be the problem now

is this one the same physical machine ?
and is this an shared / public partition ?.
- same drive OR different drive ?.

I agree with pierre2 - you need to provide us with more details.

Out of interest, which method did you use to upgrade from 16.04 to 17.10? Were there any warnings or errors during the process?

I won't ask why, because it's none of my business, but upgrading from a LTS version to a short-term one when 18.04 is just around the corner is not something I personally would have done unless there was a very good reason to do so.
