I recently installed google earth on Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit and right after installation finished , I lost much of power of wifi 3G modem installed, beeing unable to watch video on any browser without interruptions,unable to do video call on skype and I need to wait for page to be loaded in addition updating lasts ten times longer . Uninstallation of google earth did not solved the problem of lost power of wifi modem the "Conection Information" show speed: 65Mb/s

I'm new to Linux but not to programs having features still running even after uninstallation. Its just a suggestion but maybe when you installed Google Earth some features that were installed with it remained on the system, causing some bottleneck of somesort. Try having a look and seeing what programs are running in the background, possibly something is still there choking your system.

Hope you find your solution

I used this command at once :

sudo apt-get install libfontconfig1:i386 libx11-6:i386 libxrender1:i386 libxext6:i386 libgl1-mesa-glx:i386 libglu1-mesa:i386 libglib2.0-0:i386 libsm6:i386
cd /tmp && wget http://dl.google.com/dl/earth/client...rrent_i386.deb
sudo dpkg -i google-earth-stable_current_i386.deb
sudo apt-get install -f

instead of each separately, I think this is the reason the system got choke.

How to check what programs are running in the background?
Thanks

You can use the System Monitor utility. You could try and locate the program within it thats causing your problem and if so try and link it to a corresponding error on Google with your issue.

I don't know what anti-virus/malware software comes with ubuntu as I haven't used it yet but I strongly suggest running a complete scan of your computer, do it offline. Something could be embedded into the core of the OS and causing your problem. Hope this helps, sorry I can't be specific to your issue
