Ubuntu 14.04.1/Nagios system email notification config
 

Hello members,
I have just joined the group and i have Ubuntu 14.04.1 with nagios monitoring system installed. I need to configure email notifications and am having challenges.

Please describe these challenges in concise details.
Start with Nagios version. How was it installed?

There are no less than 6 places to define contacts:
Host definitions
Host group definitions
Service definitions
Service group definitions
Contact definitions
Contact group definitions

This discusses Object Inheritance in Nagios

Without knowing what version and how it was installed, have a look at /etc/nagios/objects/contacts.cfg and review.

-Nagios version.
it is Version icinga-web/v1.11.1
-How was it installed?
its is installed on ubuntu 14.04.1 and postfix for email is installed & working fine(this has been tested)

Challenges are basically on configuring email functionality with icinga to send email notifications once an alert has been generated
