Ubuntu 12.10 Attempted Installation of Arduino IDE with arduino-1.0.5-linux32.tar.gz

I'm a newbie using Ubuntu 12.10 with system updates current.
I'd like to install a package from Arduino and the archives for Linux distros are arduino-1.0.5-linux32.tar.gz and arduino-1.0.5-linux32.tgz

I'm not able to find information on Ubuntu forums for this specific install, just wonder if there is someone using both Linux and Ubuntu that may be able to guide me to information on this install.

The link above seems pretty detailed.

Thanks for link. Looks very promising.
I want to use the terminal to get a feel and learn what and how to install from source though.
But there is so much to take in since moving from Windows to Ubuntu Linux environment.

I did however use the Ubuntu 12.10 Software Center and was able to install the Arduino IDE 1.0.1 without issues.

Just the version of IDE I downloaded from Arduino's website arduino-1.0.5-linux32.tgz would have been intersting to start with. No worries 1.0.1 looks fine.
