ubuntu 12.04 grub not picking up fedora 17 bootloader from /dev/sda3

hi

i had installed ubuntu 12.04 on /dev/sda1 later i installed fedora 17 on /de/sda3 with bootloader on first sector of /dev/sda3 and thought that a update-grub in ubuntu will add it to its list. But its not doing that. How to do that?

I had a similar issue. I mounted the partition manually then ran update-grub and that solved it.

Interesting.
Fedora uses a different directory structure than normal (/boot/grub2 in F16), but I wouldn't expect a mount to "rectify" things.
