Ubuntu 11.10 showing black screen after installation

I had ubuntu 10.10 and windows 7 in my laptop. But due to some problems, I had format my hard-drive. I formatted all the drives including the one with ubuntu.
I installed windows7 ultimate which is working fine. and I installed ubuntu 11.10 inside windows using wubi.exe. The installation was completed succesfully( though ubuntu screen was black during installation)..
But now when I log into ubuntu, it shows black screen, but if I see carefully I can see a very dim ubuntu desktop in the background.
Please suggest me a solution to this problem.

Not sure if this helps.

If you can see the faint background then just increase the "brightness" of your machine to highest, this will give you clear visibility to adjust few settings on Ubuntu desktop.

Then you can check these links to increase brightness within Ubuntu:

Thanks Vicky....Actually it was a compatibility problem. I installed lower version of Ubuntu(10.10) and now the display is clear.
