Ubuntu 11.10 guest installation progress in vmware 4 stuck on retrieving 48 of 105. help?!

Hi, I'm trying to install
Ubuntu 11.10
on vmware player 4 on a
Windows 7 x64 host but
the
installation gets stuck when
it gets to retrieving files 48
of 105.I always have to click
on skip for the installation
to continue else it would be
stuck there without any
response! am I skipping
anything important? how
do I fix it and install Ubuntu
without having to skip
anything? I deleted the
whole thing and tried to
install everything afresh but
it still gets stuck there! oh
and I don't think its the
fault of the Ubuntu ISO cos
it installs and work perfectly
in virtualbox! thanks!
