Ubuntu 11.04 not booting Grub prompt
Hello
I recently installed Ubuntu 11.04. It was running great until a few hours later, while trying to shutdown the system the screen went black and sat like that for a few minutes. Everything was still powered but no sign of anything working on screen or HDD activity. I decided to force power it down. The next day I turned it on and I tried accessing my Ubuntu install (this is a Wubi install btw, it is not partitioned) and all I was greeted with was a grub 1.99 prompt. Ive tried using the terminal from a usb boot to restore and mount /dev/sda1 but it did not work. Next I tried using the grub> set root (hd0,1) way and that only yielded no such file. After much searching about I found a way of switching super blocks but any I tried to use kept saying bad magic number regardless of which back up block it was. I finally did a dmesg | tail this is the result. $ dmesg | tail [ 20.633647] input: HDA Intel Mic at Ext Front Jack as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1b.0/sound/card0/input13 [ 20.633762] input: HDA Intel HP Out at Ext Front Jack as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1b.0/sound/card0/input14 [ 20.698064] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready [ 21.392216] lp: driver loaded but no devices found [ 21.418045] ppdev: user-space parallel port driver [ 95.847060] EXT3-fs (sda1): error: can't find ext3 filesystem on dev sda1. I am stumped as for all the solutions that are available online. I have tried all of them. I could link them to you if you please. Thank you very much! THIS POST HAS BEEN SOLVED. |
