ubuntu 11.04 linux disconnects
 

hello there.
i have installed ubuntu 11.04 linux by wubi (windows 7 ultimate is the other operating system).
after some logins it started disconnect from internet.
how can i solve this. thanks...

Wired or wireless and is there any pattern (that is, does it happen with all networks, random networks, just with one, etc.)?

If wireless, try wired; if wired, try wireless. This will help further define the symptoms.

thanks for your response frankbell.it is wired.(network test result: couldn't find default gateway by running route). now i will try your suggestion.thanks

If it was wireless I'd say that Windows was the problem, it may still be the problem anyway, because I know my sisters Windows 7 laptop will disconnect at random times and it can take some effort to reconnect. WUBI is a Windows program so Windows could be the issue.

There's an active bug for kill switch. I pulled this 1 up but it's from last year, there is 1 in debian also.

The 1 for debian says that the switch works then after shutdown it's dead.

Ubuntu runs best alone. Try installing as dual boot with windows and not in windows using wubi...

The Ubuntu bug doesn't mention WUBI.

I'd try it as a live session before even installing it.

I'm not sure if it has anything to do with boot loader, I think it's actually the way linux is booting once chosen. On my machine it's dual-booting Debian
Wheezy & WinsXP. The rfkill button works in XP, but not Wheezy.
On my hdd with Wins7 & Debian Squeeze it works also.
I know it's repairable, but exists.

You may be right, I'm just seeing the same thing on a Windows 7 eMachine that only has Windows 7. If you look through Windows forums it has been a problem right through development of Windows 7 and even now it is happening for some people with no answer as to why. With the OP using WUBI I can't help but think there may be a link to the Windows 7 issue although I acknowledge I may be on the wrong track.

thanks for all suggestions.i have solved disconnect problem by entering IPv4 values manually.but i think same with you installing ubuntu separate.because i liked ubuntu.

I edited /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf file and it searches for networks now.
