Ubuntu 10.04 onwon't connect wired or wireless, don't detect the network at all

ubuntu 10.04 won't detect my network card at all I have it as a dual boot, my W7 works fine either wireless or wired connection .

Here is the ifconfig result:

To run a command as administrator (user "root"), use "sudo <command>".
See "man sudo_root" for details.

hallelujah@ubuntu:~$ ifconfig
lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1
RX packets:80 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:80 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
RX bytes:6080 (6.0 KB) TX bytes:6080 (6.0 KB)

hallelujah@ubuntu:~$

NetworkManager setting is:

# This file is installed into /etc/NetworkManager, and is loaded by
# NetworkManager by default. To override, specify: '--config file'
# during NM startup. This can be done by appending to DAEMON_OPTS in
# the file:
#
# /etc/default/NetworkManager
#

[main]
plugins=ifupdown,keyfile

[ifupdown]
managed=false

interfaces:

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

I'm new for ubuntu and I'm not sure what I can do and what I have to do.
I need your magical simple step by step help if you will please. Thank you,

If this is a new install, did you check the md5sum of the iso before you installed?
