ubuntu 10.04 no internet
I have dsl and am connected to the internet through ethernet. Ubuntu 9.10 connected but Ubuntu 10.04 will not connect to the internet. I have an emachine t5212 with an ati radeon express 200, 1024mb ddr2, 56k itu v.92 modem/fax and 10/100mbps ethernet lan, pentium d processor 805, 2.66ghz, 320 gb of memory. Also mouse responds slowly went to systems to and speed up mouse and still responds slowly. Keystrokes will freeze randomly with the last key repeating itself over and over and then locks down the system and has to be restarted. Ubuntu 9.10 works fine.

Looks like you've downloaded a buggy version. Perhaps try another (weekly) build.

I have tried the downloaded version and a DVD version that came with Ubuntu Magazine and both have the same effect. I see people have the same problem and seems to be no solution.

Try Linux Mint 9, based on Ubuntu 10.04.

I agree, I think Linux Mint is generally nicer than Ubuntu. And it also comes with proprietary software that you would probably would have to install anyway, such as Flash and proprietary codecs.

Thanks, I downloaded Mint 9 and everything actually runs smoother, except internet will not connect even though I have DSL--I do Like Mint much better. The mouse works great as well as the keyboard. Now if I can only figure out the internet--I would be happy.
Thanks again for the info on Linux mint
