Question Two quick questions. Adding ./ and changing GDM to KDM

Running Debian and I got 2 quick things that I need help with.

1) how do I add a path like ./ so that I don't have to type it in ever time.
So I make a a.out file I don't have to type ./a.out

2) how do I change from GDM to KDM ?

For the 1st question add the dot "." in your PATH like this:
export PATH
. To make this permanent put the code into your .profile or .bashrc
As for the 2nd you have to check your init files to find where gdm starts (usually in /etc/init.d/) and change it with kdm.

not sure how to change log in managers, try to debian forum as well. In slackware you go to the /etc/rc.d/rc.4 (the number corresponding to your run level for gui). It has entries for all the login managers. Just comment out what you don't need. Debian structure may be different. But it might be worth a shot.

Thanks for the advice got the path down thanks.
as for the login manager. I got it using both of your advice. Although I just changed the gdm file so that it loads kdm and not gdm. It works so I guess thats ok.

Thanks for the advice.
