two questions


Ok
1) I was told that the problems that i have been getting with linux is because i dont have the development packages. So how do i check that i do or do not have it?

2) How do i change my screens rez from 800x600 to something else?

There is an rpm command for checking for installed packages, do "man rpm" for the info.

You need to edit your /etc/X11/XF86Config(-4). Scroll down to the Screen sections, Subsection "Display" and edit the "Modes" line so that your prefered res is the first (reading from left to right) and that the others are in the order you want. You can change the res in X by doing <Ctrl><Alt><+>/<->.
