two networking questions

one almost everytime i reinstall debian i get to the point where i have to install the module for a 3c905 nic card. it almost always gives me the following errors

Warning: /lib/modules/2.2.20-idepci/net/3c59x.o symbol for paramater debug not found
/lib/modules/2.2.20-idepci/net/3c59x.o: init_module: Device or resource busy
Hint: insmod erros can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ paramters
/lib/modules/2.2.20-idepci/net/3c59x.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.2.20-idepci/net/3c59x.o failed
/lib/modules/2.2.20-idepci/met/3c59x.o: insmod 3c59x failed
Installation failed.

that was with parameters options=0
when i put a debug=0 or debug =1 it changes too

Warning: /lib/modules/2.2.20-idepci/net/3c59x.o symbol for paramater debug not found
/lib/modules/2.2.20-idepci/net/3c59x.o: init_module: symbol for paramter debug not found
Hint: insmod erros can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ paramters
/lib/modules/2.2.20-idepci/net/3c59x.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.2.20-idepci/net/3c59x.o failed
/lib/modules/2.2.20-idepci/met/3c59x.o: insmod 3c59x failed
Installation failed.

help!!

i did get this to work once, i swear with just options=0, but then i messed up and tried to put in a static ip. and i wanted to change it to dhcp, but the how to only told me how to do it using linuxconf and i only have dhclient. so could anyone give me a reference on dhclient thats informative.

What happens when you don't enter anything in the options dialog and just hit enter?

The Boomerang/Vortex cards generally work well and I have never had to supply any additional options. What happens if you boot the Debian install CD with bf2.4 (or is it bf24? I don't remember.)? The 2.20 kernel is very old by now (considering the 2.6 series are out) and you should at least be running a 2.4 kernel, which is what the bf2.4 option does.

Good to hear you got it sorted out. But I still think you should grab a 2.4 series kernel as soon as possible, as there have been numerous improvements and several security holes fixed since 2.2.20.
