two mac address of one machine

i am having two ethernet ports on my desktop..
now when i do ifconfig -a it shows me like this

eth0 with its details and one mac address

eth1 with its details and one separate mac address

i want to know why its showing two mac addresses of one machine..

MAC addresses are not fo your machine but of your ethernet cards. And because you have two lan cards, it will show you mac addresses corresponding to each card.
