I'm currently having problems with my card and have tried to get this program to help me. It is unable to find any suitable combinations. The card is a Pinnacle PCTV and I'm running Mandrake 9.1.

When you run the program and it tries each combination, it comes up with this message after it pulls up xawtv:

Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display "0.0".

Is this normal, or should I try and find out whats going on?
Thanks!!

BT

so you;re unable to use the card right? have you set the card number for the card or trying to let it use the default settings? search google for the bttv cardlist, which will give you an ID number for the card you are using, you can then speciically set this in /etc/modules.conf

well yeah that message is normal if you're not loading dri, which you don't need.

mmm..

Well I must say that problem must be related to Xfree86 and Xawtv more than to the program itself.... have you done a search for it in any engine???
Your card is very good and it should work...
Mine is just a cheap one..

Kworld bt878

Good luck!!!

About 6 months ago, I set up my tv card. This how-to helped me a lot:

I had the same problem and the solution was setting the propper driver for my nvidia video card.

I'm about to give up. I tried the link above, but I think there's a problem with Mandrake. It uses something called drakxtv. This autodetects the card and assigns the "appropriate" options. Everything I try in modules.conf is overwritten by this program (I think).

Anyway, here is the appropriate dmesg stuff for this:
