turning off syntax coloring in vim, permanently
hey again,
i'm wondering if someone can lead me to some information on how to turn off syntax coloring on vim. i don't know how some of you people do it, but trying to read comments is nearly impossible when you have a dark shell background. thanks for the help, davalos |
you can always just start vim, then do
:syntax off |
Or, put the command you specified in a file, in your home directory, called ".exrc"
Any commands put in that file are executed on start of vi/vim. Ian |
true. but, and not to sound lazy, but its an extra step i have to take. i'd much rather figure out how to turn it off.
hey, let me ask you something... i have an athlon 2400+, 512MB DDR SDRAM, and a Radeon 9500... an almost similar box as yours. anyway...when i leave my box on for a while i'll notice some major slow down when i wake up the box. in particular, mozilla turns to a gray color, and my shell takes a while to wake up before i can even type anything. does, or has this ever happened to you? i ran top, and i don't see any major CPU/Memory usage. i dont' know if this is a X problem, or if i've been hacked and there are some services running i don't know about. but it seems like the only way to temporarily remedy this is to restart the box. any ideas? thanks, davalos |
thanks, Ian. i'll give that a shot.

nope, and i leave it idle very often. THe mouse might be a litty jaggy/laggy for a few split seconds, but imho i can never config the mouse the my liking in RH.
blame it on X...or the drivers for your card |
