Turning off reverse lookup in log files?

Here's what I'm doing. I got sick and tired of my logs filling up with brats trying to brute force their way in via SSH with their scripts, so I set up swatch to firewall them out by watching the secure log for certain Invalid user entries, pulling out the ip address and running an iptables command to block them. Every once in a while for whatever reason, there is a dns name in there and not an ip address. Is there a way to turn this off so only ip addresses will appear in that log? Or any log for that matter?
