turbolinux 8 and AMD Athlon64 problem

I'm using the turbolinux 8 distro to install on a 64bit system. Carefully following the installation guidelines on the install CD results in no error message during setup but an 'Kernel panic: Attempt to kill init !' message while booting.

I'm using

AMD Athlon64 3000+

VIA K8T800 chip set

160 GB Serial ATA

VT8237 S-ATA RAID controller.

I guess there is some problem with the chip set or the controller driver. However, I'm not sure what and how to install. I used already the turbolinux update kit for the K8T800, but that didn't solve the problem. Any suggestions ?

Well im no expert here, but the first thing i would do is update the bios, and all your firmware, besides that I really have no idea, good luck!
