Thumbs up Turbo Tax

Does Turbo Tax have plans for Linux versions and if not are Linux developers pushing TT to do so?

If I recall correctly, I think I successfully used the online Federal Free Edition last year. I printed to a pdf for my records when I was done.

But no, there's no plans for a linux version as far as I know.

Have you tried running the Windows version under Wine? I am downloading it now and will give it a try later today.

p.s. I just tried to install the latest Turbo Tax on Ubuntu 10.04 with Wine 1.2.2. The TT installer tells me that MS .NET 4.0 framework is required. .NET 4.0 would not install. The Wine web site indicates that .NET 4.0 does not work on Wine.

So... If you want to run TT on Linux you could do what I did a couple of years ago. Create a Windows virtual machine with VMWare Player (free) and install TT there. Windows + updates + anti-virus/malware software + TT produced a reasonably safe environment. I used it only for TT.

For my actual tax returns I have used the on-line version of Turbo Tax for the past many years.
