Brand new to Linux

Installed Fedora Core 3, and the soundcard detection notices both the intel sound device (which I dont want to use) and the Chaintech 7.1 AV710 C-media Envy24HT-S card.

I can not get any sound out through the SPDIF optical output from the card to my stereo.

I have gone to the Volume Control and unmuted everything under the tab labeled "AMP Ltd AUDIO2000 [Alsa Mixer] " tab, and tried to mute everything under the "Intel ICH5 [alsa Mixer]" tab

Any help? And I am a complete newbie so I need my hand held. Im used to my Macs, that dont require much in the way of brainpower!

1. Post the question in 1 forum. Just like the rules state.
2. Go read the rules again since you obviously didn't.
3. While reading the rules notice that you can search for the answer.
4. I found the answer on the 4th post when I searched "SPDIF", which make me believe you didn't search
