Trying to rename/copy files with the locked symbol on it in Kali Linux.
I’ve been trying for the past few days to rename and copy some of the .exe files in system32 through Kali Linux. No matter what I do I can’t re name them. I am signed in as root and I have tried to use many commands but seemingly none of them do anything. I am using Kali Linux live but I don’t know if that effects anything. Any suggestions are useful.
I am booting it off a USB. Should I try a disc of some sort?
I don’t know if this means anything... but I right clicked on one of the files and went to property’s and it says it’s the root account(which I’m on) and it is readable and writeable

Reason: Second part
It looks like the OP is trying gain access to a Windows computer by renaming sethc.exe. While this could be a legitimate penetration testing class, someone just following a guide or just trying to crack a computer for fun or other reasons is impossible to know.
