Trying to make a usb drive for mint 13 for my netbook
 
I have only been using Linux for a week on my Toshiba Equium laptop. It works fine. I have loaded it on to my hard drive. I have a Packard Bell Dot_s notebook that I am trying to laod Linux mint 13 on. When I go to the website and download unetbootin-linux-575 I am unable to open it and cant get any furthur...I can download unetbootin-linux-494 and open it ok but not 575 !! Any ideas please.

If you are using Ubuntu or Mint on your laptop then unetbootin should be available in Software Center so you should try to install it from there rather than downloading it.

Also peek at www.pendrivelinux.com for some help pages. Also for the most part mint and ubuntu are the same so a web search for an issue with mint should be also replicated with the word ubuntu.

You probably need to make the package executable.

chmod 0744 filename

I have not heard the words "Packard Bell" since the 90's. :hattip:

I have tried it in the software centre but when I click instal nothing happens until I click on the web address which takes me to the usual download page that I go to....Im sure I am doing something wrong.I do appreciate your help.. I am away on holiday at the moment and will look firthur at the problem next week when I get home.
