Trying to Install Wolfenstein ET, Dont even know where to begin.
 

Im very new to linux:newbie: , I just had an extra computer and Wanted to put it to use so i put Ubuntu on it. I pretty much wanted to put linux on it for one reason. I heard that ET is really cool on linux.I downloaded The linux version of it to the my downloads folder. Made it executable. Opened it and selected Open in terminal.

This is what I got to:
Verifying archive integrity... All good.

I thought i would just try to enter my login password. but it wouldnt let me type anything, so i just clicked enter. Then it says authorization faliure and closes. If you can help me out and give me some good details on how to install it, that would be ausome.

It says enter the root password so... uh enter the root password? How hard was that? :cool:

The ET installer has a GUI so you shouldn't be able to mess it up without really trying.

No its not that easy when it wont let me type anything in.

Open your terminal and try:
sudo sh et-linux-2.60.x86.run

PS: Since you seem to be using an outdated 2.5 version, make sure to replace the version number in the above command. Next, update your installed game.

Yeah it will, when typing in passwords in a command line in linux it will never appear as though anything has been entered. Unlike Windows that displays astericks which certain hacks can show what is really there, linux prefers the method of if there's nothing there you can't see it nyah!

Rest assured what you're typing is being entered, type the root password, press enter and the GUI will display.

what if i dont know my root password?
i dont remember making one.

When I tried that it said no such file or directory. I have it saved on my desktop.
