Unhappy trying to install firefox 27.0 into knoppix 7.0.

I believe I successfully decompressed firefox-27.0.tar.bz2 (bzip2 29.2Mb). Don't know where it went or how to find it, to copy it to "the appropiate location", where ever that would be. Could someone give me a key stroke by stroke set of instructions. I have "played" around with the terminal emulator ... it seems to be like DOS but diff. commands. Can you direct me to a listing of knoppix commands? I'm dead in the water here.
**To frankbell- Yes running live Distro. When I restart I loose all Bookmarks, etc.
**To JohnVV- installing firefox out of ignorance, Youtube, Live TV news, is demanding a newer ver.
Thank You for responding !

If you decompressed it, it likely went into a directory named "firefox-27.0" inside the directory where it resided when you decompressed.

Not being able to see your computer, I am not able to offer keystroke by keystroke instructions.

If you are running Knoppix as a Live Distro, have you enabled persistance? If not, any changes you make will be lost.

Regarding commands, yes, Linux commands are different, though there is a lot of overlap. If you do a web search for "Linux commands quick reference," you will find many resources. Here's one:

I'm curious. Why are looking to install a newer Firefox in Knoppix?

also knoppix and the CURRENT knoppix 7.2
already has "iceweasel" installed
that is a clone of Firefox ( Debian and trademark issues - it was forked into iceweasel )

so basically firefox is already installed
