trying to get java JDK to work in ~/bin

I have changed the path for my bash scripts to be able to be in a /bin in my Home dir. I would like to be able to do it for Java. If I opened up the .tar.gz in the bin dir how do I set my $PATH to work? I did it in bashrc for the bash scripts..

I am running Manjaro if that matters.

Thanks in advance.

In .bashrc, just append the path to the directory containing the "java" executable to your PATH like you did with ~/bin. I'm not entirely sure what difficulty you're having, since you've already managed to do the same thing for your bash scripts!

You'll also want to set the JAVA_HOME variable. This can be done in your .bashrc, too. Set it to the directory which has been created after extracting the contents of the tar.gz file.

Maybe you have to set the CLASSPATH environment variable in addition. Just a thought. JVM
may stumble without knowing what that is.
