Trying to get compiz and emerald to work in debian 6
Ok, I am following this tutorial:
http://http://samjh.wordpress.com/20...-debian-lenny/
to use emerald and compiz on debian. But, I think I did something wrong. where it says: "...go to Select Window Decorator, and click Emerald." I cant choose emerald. I dont know what I did wrong but I noticed in /usr/bin I saw emerald and emerald-theme-manager but with red words and a black background. Does that mean something. I am really confused.

Nevermind, I've answered in a hurry before even reading everything.
In which file manager you saw the files in different colors? I guess it may be some "code" for permissions or something.

I use nautilus, but I was using the terminal at the time. Not a file manager.

Open CompizConfig settings manager. In the left hand pane click "Effects", then in the right hand pane click "Window Decoration". The pane will change and you will see a box entitled "Command". Change the contents to "emerald --replace" (without the quotes), and make sure that "Enable Window Decoration" is checked on the right.
Emerald can be a bit flakey, so you may have to logout and login again to see the change.
