Trying to configure e-mail account to my hotmail e-mail
 

Hi. I am trying to configure an E-mail Program to receive my e-mail from hotmail. Hotmail has a URL Server for HTTP.

http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp

Does anyone know how I can accomplish this with a Linux e-mail program.

Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

i think its rather weird that this has been asked three times today (that i am aware of)

I have this installed on my RedHat 9 machine, and use Ximian evolution for my email client. It's quite similar to Microsoft Outlook (not Express, for the love of God, not Express!!!). Anyway, I believe I got the instructions on how to install, and use it on the website given to you. Also, don't make the same mistake I did. If you let evolution or another client make changes to your simulated POP3 server (it treats hotmail as one), then you'll suck all the emails off the account to be downloaded locally. If you're like me, and rely on the the internet for emails as well, or to use Outlook when using Windows machines, then you should make sure that you don't let your email client download them off the server.

You listed you memory as 512mb pc-133. Shouldn't your memory be DDR 2100 or DDR 2700 at speeds of 266 or 333, respectively.

Unfortunately, it isn't. I have the old A7V motherboard. It only take PC-100 or PC-133 memory. It's not supposed to run at 1.7GhZ, but if you set the multipliers correctly it runs smoothly. I found this out through a couple of forums discussing the motherboard. Pretty sweet, huh? I bought the machine off a guy for $50, w/ a Thunderbird 800MhZ processor. Bought the XP 2100+ for $60, and bam. It purrs like a kitten, albeit a very loud one.

At that price, your laughing. It cost me eight hundred plus to build my system. I have 3 systems now. Did you have to update the bios for your motherboard to recognize the XP2100?

Yup, that was the little trick. That and playing with the multipliers. I want to make another system when I have more money, and this exprience with Asus motherboards has convinced me to go with them. I thought this was possibly obselete, but go figure. Depending on the type of XP2100 (version) I could clock it over 2 GhZ. That's too much for me, I don't need that kind of power, especially when I would probably sacrifice stability. I love this machine, it's my Linux experiment. I'm a grad student in Mathematical Statistics, and Linux is a savior when it comes to my programming and multi-tasking needs. Especially when I can just go home, and logon to my XP laptop (I know... I know...), and do everything on my little (actually a bit oversized... hahaha) baby.

Well, if you feel it is obselete, I'll give you the $110 dollars for it.

Thanks for the compliment, it sure took me a lot of time to do it. If I ever need the money, I'll let you know. It seems like you've got a pretty good stock of some great hardware there. Maybe we can work out a trade... Hahaha
