Trying to active Direct Rendering Infrastructure on Ubuntu for my graphics card
Hello folks,
I am trying to install World of Warcraft on Ubuntu 14.04.1, which is the latest version of Ubuntu. But first, I need to active DRI. When I type the command glxinfo | grep rendering in the terminal, I get the following message: direct rendering: No (If you want to find out why, try setting LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose) Then I'm not sure where to go from there. I need help from this point on please. I am running on a Sager laptop with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M graphics card. This is what I also get when I type the command lspci | grep VGA in the termainal: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation G92M [GeForce GTX 260M] (rev a2) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |
Did you install the proprietary drivers from Nvidia? Or did you try from the "Additional Drivers menu" in Ubuntu?

To get to the drivers, I click on System Settings, Software and Updates, and then Additional Drivers. In that menu I can select from a bunch of proprietary drivers.
When I install the proprietary drivers, do I install all of them or any specific ones? |

Use the latest version that is offered for your card, only install one driver.
@EDDY1: While installing the drivers out-of-repository is always an option I would not consider it a good idea for someone new to Linux, since it will break the GUI when kernel updates are launched. |
