Hi thekraken,
As one noob to another, check out: http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:Feisty This page has helped me out with I-don't-know-how-many ultra-noob problems Not saying that your current problem is a noob problem, but I'd look there first. Most of the how-to's have easy, step-by-step problems. Aside from that, you'll need to provide some more information in the forums to clue in the gurus... What version of Ubuntu, for starters. What computer? Have you tried anything to set up the card, and if so, what? Persevere. The learning curve for a basic ubuntu user is steep but short. |
have you googled for drivers for your wireless card?
|
Chances are the driver/module is already included with the kernel, all you'll probably have to do is download the firmware and unpack it, put all the files ending in .fw in /lib/firmware. Re-boot and it's a go. But yeah, knowing which computer, better yet, which wireless device is a big plus.
Do you have a license to kill? |
Depending on which chipset has your wireless card you can proceed in different ways. Installing the firmware or using ndiswrapper(a tool that allows your windows drivers to be used) are the most common solutions.
Would be helpful if you can post this details. |
