Angry Trouble with mozilla and mplayer. :(

I can't seam to get ANY movies to play when I click on the links in mozilla. I have the mplayer plugin installed for mozilla. THe plugs page under the help tab even says so! I just today tried installing a FULL version of standalone mplayer to see if that was needed because the instructions for the plugin said NOTHING about this. This didn't help though. When I click the movie file link it just opens another browser and displays the contents of the file, very annoying. There is no open with command when I right click the link either. How do I go about setting movies to OPEN in the MPLAYER when I click them. I've been all throughout the preferences section, read through the help but nothing gives any detailed info on this. The mplayer homepage didn't help me much either.
