Trouble with Mandrake 10.0
Hi, I jsut install mandrake 10.0 and it works fine untill when I reboot where a pop up appear before I can get to the desktop and says "Could not look up internet address for dhcppc3. This will prevent GNOME from operating correctly. It may be possible to correct the problem by adding dhcppc3 to the file /etc/hosts "
I dont know what to do and I really want my mandrake to operate normally coz i've been wanting this OS a year ago. Thanks in advance, and sorry for my bad english . |
Well, never seen that b4, Go into MCC (Mandrake Control Center) Go to internet delete all your connections, Reboot. See if you still get that msg. It's prob just your card set up wrong. If it goes away go back into MCC and add a connection, It will walk you thru it. Just tell is what kind of connection your using and all the other options should be already checked for you, you just have to accecpt them. Since you mentioned DHCP I assume your on a cable connection, are you running thru a router?

Thank you for your reply. Yes I'm using a router and perhaps you could tell me where MCC is ? I have zero knowledge about linux, but im using it coz i like new things and curious how it works.
Thank you, i really appreciate your help. |
edit /etc/hosts and add dhcppc3 on the same line as 127.0.0.1 then it will be ok.

To go to the Mandrake Control Centre
On your desktop click on the star in the bottom left hand corner this will bring up a menu Go to "System" Go to "Configuration" Go to "Configure your computer" Enter the Root password and that will open up Mandrake Control Centre At the Mandrake Control Centre click on "Network and Internet" and take it from there hope this helps floppy |
