For some reason, I've been having trouble using the make command when compiling/installing source I download. When I first got Linux in August, I did not have this problem, but a couple months ago I found that I could no longer "make" anything. I just reinstalled everything from my Linux distro CD (desperation), but to no avail. (I kept my home directory though, because I didn't want to part with my MP3 collection and my homework, so perhaps the problem is somewhere in there.)
Here is one of the typical messages, this one was when I was trying to compile the latest version of Battle For Wesnoth this morning:
insomniacjack@ip68-107-57-52:/usr/src/wesnoth-0.8.11> make
make all-recursive
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/wesnoth-0.8.11'
Making all in intl
/bin/sh: line 1: cd: intl: No such file or directory
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/wesnoth-0.8.11'
make: *** [all] Error 2
To my untrained eye, it looks like it can't find the directory /usrc/src/wesnoth-08.11/intl/, but when I check, that directory is there. I get very similar messages about directories or files not being found no matter what I try to use make with. Here is some more info about what I'm running:
Kernel 2.6.5-7.147-default
Processor: i686
Distro: SuSE 9.1 Personal
automake 1.8.3-23
make 3.80-184
m4 1.40-622
autoconf 2.59-75
gcc 3.3.3-41
If there is any other info you would need to answer my question, please let me know and I will post it. Also, here is the log of when I ran configure for the Battle of Wesnoth installation in question:

Are you installing as root???
Did you update any libraries, replacing old ones???
I just checked, the kernel sources were not installed, and I now have it installing.
I'm pretty sure that all the C libraries I need for this are installed.
I would be installing as root, but I didn't even make it that far. I get these errors while running make, and I haven't gotten to "make install."
I will try doing this again once the kernel sources have finished installing, and I will post an update on the results.
