trouble with installing
hey, ok, this is my first leap into Linux..and i cant even get it on my computer! lol, well, i burned the iso's to the discs, and i can boot fine. i even get past the screen that detects all the stuff, and the memory test, but after that, it says "proceeding, please wait...", and just stays like that. it doesnt do anything (i waited for like, 15 minutes). how do i get this on my machine?
o ya, i should mention, im tryin to install Mandrake |
it is most likely a hardware issue with your individual computer, for instance, PCMCIA has been known to cause system freezes on boot and install, i would suggest trying a text based install
at the boot: prompt (or however it appears in mandrake), type in linux text this will give you a text based install, more likely to output debugging information on a different terminal, when it freezes, hold on control+alt+ try all the F* keys for any debugging information --adam |
