Trouble with install of Suse 9.1

First hello to all and thanks in advance for your help.
Now the problem. I bought and very easily installed Suse 9.1 however;
I think it was too easy and fast. I read all about boot options and I never was offered one. It runs great accept I can't eject the boot cd and when I restart it defaults back to Windows. I read the install instructions and the screens that should be there aren't. I am currently running XP home w/SP2.
This is very confusing to me. When it booted from cd it gave some options that I couldn't get to because my keyboard wasn't working. I looked around and all my system componants are there. I tried to update something forgot what and it couldn't access the cd-rom to complete the task.Maybe I am just really slow but I am lost as I can get.I am sorry this jumps around but frustration has taken over.

System specs.
ASUS A7N8X-X nforce2 chipset
AMD XP 2400@2.0ghz
1gig Ram PC2100
ATI 9600 256 w/Catalyst 4.9 drivers
Sound Blaster Live 5.1
WD 120gb HD 8mb Cach
Cable internet

Thanks for your time.

I'm not sure that you actually performed the installation. Here's some online Suse help on the installation process, which hopefully should help.

It's odd that your keyboard wasn't recognized - is it some kind of wireless keyboard? Because those are relatively new, they aren't always supported by all distros. If that's the case, perhaps you could temporarily use a regular keyboard for the installation. -- J.W.

My keyboard is connected by usb. Hmm I will try and connect it normaly and post my results. Thanks for the sugestion it got me thinking. When its running its seems like a great OS.

Thanks again J.W. for your help. The keyboard sugestion was right on. I looked further and I didn't get it installed. What happened was the instructions say to put cd1 in for install and it didn't have the install option on it. So, I tried cd2 and it worked like a charm. :study:

Excellent -- I'm glad you got it sorted out. I think you'll like Suse 9.1, and since I neglected to say it previously: Welcome to LQ!! -- J.W.
