Trouble setting up wlan0 OpenBox

Hi I'm in the process of setting up a wireless lan connection up on Dell Precision M65 laptop. The chip id of the wlan card is BCM4311 and the PCI-ID is 14e4:4311
According to this document about the b43 and b43legacy the wlan card is supported. Since the card is supported I installed the b43-firmware 5.100.138-1 package. as spelled out by arch linux broadcom wiki.

Now as I'm trying to setup network manager I can't seem to properly configure the gui to start up at launch or even open it up to see if my wlan0 can connect to anything. So what steps do I need to take to get it working?

To install the gui I used...
Code:
# pacman -S network-manager-applet xfce4-notifyd hicolor-icon-theme gnome-icon-theme

Thanks,
James

Read through the whole wiki - the "configuration" section is after the "frontends" section where you quoted code from. It's pretty step by step and worked for me although I kept missing things in it and took me several tries to get it (its written pretty minimalistic as is most arch wikis - not complaining mind you).

Personally, I found network manager + arch + openbox to be a constant headache so I went with wicdsometime back - it seems stabler and works well with openbox - you might want to consider it. I haven't been using network manager for over a year now so I don't really know (given the speed of change on arch) what its like anymore.

wicd is your way to go on Arch with a laptop, but keep in mind network only starts in the desktop environment because you have to # out the fixed network setup in /etc/rc.conf and load wicd in the daemon line after dbus
