Trouble putting Ubuntu into Oracle VM Virtual Box Mgr
I have installed Ubuntu into my F drive, mad the new virtual machine, started to boot it up, but it won't go. The graphic says "This kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU. Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU."
I am running Windows 8 64 bit, Intel i7, on an HP Envy. Thanks! |
You need to enable the hardware virtualization in your BIOS. (if your machine is supporting it, but as it's seems to be a fairly new one, there should be no problem)
If these options are disable you will be able to install only 32bit OS on your virtual machine. Reboot your phisical machine > go to the BIOS and enable your VT-x option. You might need to enable it as well in the setings of your virtual machine. |
