Now i want to use gtkpod under linux to access it and write songs to it, etc.
When I plug in my ipod via USB my SuSEPlugger seems to recognize it.
i type dmesg to make sure everything is good, and i get this:

I dunno why iget all those errors, so anyways
I then 'mkdir /mnt/ipod/
Then i go mount /dev/sda /mnt/ipod
and i get this error:
linux:/home/mark # mount /dev/sda /mnt/ipod/
mount: /dev/sda is not a valid block device
linux:/home/mark #
Can anyone help?
Thanks!

Because /dev/sda is the device, not the filesystem. I'm not sure which partition you use for iPods, but try mounting /dev/sda1 or /dev/sda2 and see which one is about 20GB

ok thanks, i try this:
linux:/home/mark # mount -t vfat /dev/sda1/ /mnt/ipod/
mount: special device /dev/sda1/ does not exist
(a path prefix is not a directory)
linux:/home/mark # mount -t vfat /dev/sda2/ /mnt/ipod/
mount: special device /dev/sda2/ does not exist
(a path prefix is not a directory)
linux:/home/mark #
Seems to still not work, does anyone know the exact thing to put?

try mount -t auto /dev/sda1 /mnt/ipod
i'm pretty sure that works for my USB jumpdrive, so it might work for the ipod, unless you _know_ that it's vfat.
EDIT: i just read what you actually wrote, and your errors might stem from using /dev/sda1/ instead of /dev/sda1 (because it's a block device, not a directory)
