Trouble making symlink between firefox3.6.10 and Java 1.6.0_26

Hi I have been trying to run Runescape and I get a error message telling me I am missing java Runtime Environment 1.6 u26.
I dowloaded this from http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp and i made it an executable and installed it fine.
But when I go to Runescape or any other site that needs Java it says its missing. I tried to make a symlink between the with the command

sudo -s /home/master/Tech/Java/jre1.6.0_26/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins

every time i get and error that says segmentation fault. i have no idea how to fix that.

Here are instructions from the Firefox support documentation.
Quote:

Enabling Java

If Java is not working, make sure that the Java plugin is enabled in the Add-ons Manager tab:

At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Tools menu, and then click Add-ons. The Add-ons Manager tab will open.
In the Add-ons Manager tab, select the Plugins panel.
Click on the Java plugin to select it.
Click on the Enable button (if the button says Disable, Java is already enabled).
Other software that may block Java

Even if Java is installed and enabled in Firefox, it may be blocked by other software or Firefox add-ons, such as the following:
The NoScript extension for Firefox will block Java. For more information, see the NoScript FAQ
